Moral Imagination –
The Audacity To Imagine
The World As It Could Be

In July 2019,  together with Acumen, we held our annual thought leadership event. A keynote speech was given by Jo-Ann Tan, the Director of +Acumen, the world's online school for social change. She spoke about Acumen’s global vision to build entrepreneurial moral leaders of strong character, who are locally rooted but globally connected, and have the audacity to imagine the world as it could be.

It was followed by a panel discussion on moral leadership, comprising:

  • Anita Ahmad, Head of Community Development at Yayasan Hasanah
  • Navin Muruga, 2016 Acumen Global Fellow
  • John-son Ooi, CEO of Epic Collective
  • Jo-Ann Tan, Director of +Acumen

The discussion was moderated by Oga Chan, Programme Lead of Malaysia Acumen Academy.

Session Highlights:

  • The 21st century requires leaders who can navigate an ever-changing world and bridge the divide between rich and poor, public and private, business and philanthropy, profit and purpose, shareholders and stakeholders.
  • A new model of growth is needed, and so is a new type of leader, one with moral imagination.
  • An army of moral leaders is required to build the future we dare dream about.

Through this belief, the Acumen Fellows Programme plans to cultivate social innovators for positive change in making Malaysia equitable for all.
