We offer two scholarship programmes to deserving high performers with a passion for community service.

YTL Foundation Scholarship Programme

Our scholarship programme is for students seeking to complete their tertiary education at a public or private university. STPM, Matriculation, 'A' Levels, or other foundation programme graduates may apply. Up to 30 scholarships are available each year.

APPLICATION CRITERIA

  1. This scholarship programme is for degree programmes only.
  2. Must come from a family that finds it a challenge to finance tuition fees and living expenses.
  3. The applicant must be a Malaysian citizen.
  4. The ability to study full-time is required.
  5. Bond Period - 5 years (local public university)
                            - 6 years (local private university)

REQUIREMENTS

  1. SPM /IGSCE - Min 7As
  2. STPM - Min CGPA 3.50
  3. Matriculation/Foundation - Min CGPA 3.70
  4. ‘A’ Levels - Min 2As 
  5. IB - Min 37 points 
  6. Australian Matriculation (AUSMAT) - Min ATAR 75

Our scholarship programme is open to students from all fields, with priority given to the following courses: 

  • Civil Engineering
  • Electrical Engineering
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Quantity Surveying
  • Construction Project Management and other construction related courses
  • Finance and Business-related degrees
  • Creative Arts and Design
  • Accounting
  • Computer Science
  • Social Sciences

The Yeoh Tiong Lay Award

This award is granted to applicants who have displayed humanitarian and leadership qualities consistent with our values, with excellent academic results to match.

We fund undergraduate degree programmes from a top-rated foreign university. This award allows students to apply for any course of their choice. 

Only one seat is awarded each year.

  6. IB - Min 40 points
  7. Australian Matriculation (AUSMAT) - Min ATAR 85

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How do I apply for the scholarship?

Click the "Apply Now" button to get started. You’ll be asked to create an account using your email and password. This allows you to save your progress and return to finish your application whenever you're ready.

Remember to click "Save" before submitting your application.

Will I be able to apply more than once?

Each applicant is limited to one submission. Use the 'Save' button to review your work before hitting submit.

If you need to correct an error in an application you’ve already submitted, please contact us at ytlfoundation@ytl.com.my for assistance.

Is it possible to leave the application half-way and continue applying later?

Yes, you can save your progress while applying and continue the application later.

What are the documents I need to prepare for the application?

Please prepare the following documents to upload onto the application form

  1. Applicant’s NRIC
  2. Surety’s NRIC
  3. Academic Certificates (SPM, STPM, A-Levels, Matriculation, Foundation, Diploma, IB)
  4. Achievement Certificates /Awards /Special Prizes
  5. University offer letter
  6. Written referral from referee 1 & 2
  7. CV/Resume with photo attached (Download: CV Template. docx)  or  (CV Template.pdf)
  8. Personal statement 
  9. Parents' latest tax form/payslip

What if my parents are retired and do not have a recent income tax form?

If they are retired and do not have a current form, they can submit the last form they submitted before retiring. If they are self-employed then a pay slip or bank statement will suffice. If you are from a single- parent family and there is no income, please upload an explanation on who is providing towards the household income and provide their income tax form /salary slip

I have not received my offer letter from the university. Can I apply for the scholarship?

Yes, you can, however, you need to upload a note explaining that you have not received your offer letter from the university. The system will not allow you to move on if you do not finish answering a question. In your note, please include which universities you have applied to. If you have applied through the UPU system, please list down your choices of universities and courses. 

I plan to enroll in a Twinning Programme. Can I still apply for the scholarship ?

Applicants who are planning to apply to twinning programmes at public or private universities are welcome to apply. Please note that the Foundation will fund only one (1) year abroad, subject to approval. 

Terms and conditions are as follows:

  1. The twinning programme should be a 2+1 programme as the foundation will only fund 1 year overseas.
  2. The University to which the candidate is transferring must be a recognised foreign university.
  3. The candidate will have to inform the Foundation of the twinning programme if they are shortlisted and called to the Assessment Centre.
  4. The twinning programme is not guaranteed and is subject to the Programme Director’s approval.  

Please note that priority is given to applicants that are applying to undergo their entire undergraduate degree at a local university. 

How will my personal statement be evaluated?

When will I be notified that my application is successful?

You will receive an email notification on whether you have succeeded to the next stage approximately 4 weeks after the closing date (30 April).

How many stages are there to the application process

There are 3 stages to the scholarship application: 
Stage 1  - Fill–up online application 
Stage 2  - Attend assessment centre 
Stage 3  -  Final round interviews
