YTL Scholar Cohort

"

The 2023 cohort of YTL scholars comprises 16 students from all over Malaysia.

They were selected based on their academic achievements, leadership potential, and commitment to community service.

On Friday, 11 August 2023, YTL Foundation held an induction ceremony for its new scholars.

The Induction Ceremony was attended by two Board of Trustees; Dato’ Yeoh Soo Min and Tan Sri Abu Hassan Othman and his wife, Puan Sri Jamilah, Programme Director of YTL Foundation; Dato’ Kathleen Chew, the parents of the scholars and the scholars themselves. Existing YTL Foundation scholars and alumni also attended the Ceremony making it a fun-filled night.

During the induction ceremony, the scholars received their certificates from Dato' Yeoh Soo Min. She congratulated them on their achievements and urged them to make the most of the opportunity to learn and grow.

The scholars also took part in a series of workshops and activities during the induction ceremony. These activities were designed to help them develop their leadership and work together as a cohort.

The induction ceremony was a momentous occasion for the scholars, and it marked the beginning of their journey as YTL scholars. They are now part of a prestigious program that will provide them with the resources and support they need to succeed in their studies and beyond.

YTL SCHOLAR INDUCTION

The 2023 scholars were invited to a full-day workshop followed by an Induction Ceremony.

The workshop entitled ‘Understanding the 5Cs’ was designed to introduce the scholars to the YTL Values and the 5Cs (Communication, Creativity, Critical Thinking, Character and Collaboration), provide them with the necessary tools and know-how to apply the values and 5Cs throughout their time as scholars, and encourage them to foster a healthy relationship amongst themselves as YTL Foundation Scholars.

Some of the workshop activities include:

• Learning to deliver an elevator pitch,
• Becoming familiar with a creative brainstorming tool known as SCAMPER,
• Creatively upgrading or repurposing a packet of M&M’s, and
• Reflecting as a group on how they aspire to grow as a cohort, the opportunities they aim to seize as YTL Foundation Scholars, and how they can support one another.
