INSPIRATION BEHIND THE PRIZE
As a student, Puan Sri Kai Yong Yeoh was excellent in academics and the performing arts. As a mathematics teacher, she made outstanding contributions – recognising students’ strengths, weaknesses, and instilling their confidence in the subject regardless of their learning abilities.
Beyond her teaching profession, she saw to the needs of her own children, teaching and nurturing them to be all-rounders deeply rooted in family values. Despite her retirement, she continued to teach mathematics to her grandchildren.
Puan Sri Kai Yong has remained actively involved in her alma mater, holding the position as Lifelong Advisor to the Board of Directors of Hin Hua High School, Hin Hua Alumni Association and Hin Hua Parent-Teacher Association.
She has also been part of the Jalan Davidson Primary School Board of Governors, where she taught for many years and founded the school band. She is also General Advisor to the Parents Teachers Association, Alumni Association and Board of Governors of the school – all with the aim to improve facilities and raise its teaching standards. Beyond education, she generously supports other charitable projects.
