We offer two scholarship programmes to deserving high performers with a passion for community service.

YTL Foundation Scholarship Programme

Our scholarship programme is for students seeking to complete their tertiary education at a public or private university. STPM, Matriculation, 'A' Levels, or other foundation programme graduates may apply. Up to 30 scholarships are available each year.

APPLICATION CRITERIA

  1. This scholarship programme is for degree programmes only.
  2. Must come from a family that finds it a challenge to finance tuition fees and living expenses.
  3. The applicant must be a Malaysian citizen.
  4. The ability to study full-time is required.

REQUIREMENTS

  1. SPM /IGSCE - Min 7As
  2. STPM/ Matriculation /Foundation - Min 2As/ CGPA 3.7
  3. ‘A’ Levels - Min 2As 
  4. IB - 36 points 
  5. Bond Period - 5 years (local public university)
                            - 6 years (local private university)

Eligibility

Our scholarship programme is open to students from all fields, with priority given to the following courses: 

  • Civil Engineering
  • Electrical Engineering
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Quantity Surveying
  • Construction Project Management and other construction related courses
  • Finance and Business-related degrees
  • Creative Arts and Design
  • Accounting
  • Computer Science

The Yeoh Tiong Lay Award

This award is granted to applicants who have displayed humanitarian and leadership qualities consistent with our values, with excellent academic results to match.

We fund undergraduate degree programmes from a top-rated foreign university. This award allows students to apply for any course of their choice. Only one seat is awarded each year.

  6. Bond period - 7 years

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How do I apply for the scholarship?

The application process consists of two parts. Upon clicking the provided link, you'll gain access to the initial section (Part 1) of the application form. After successfully submitting Part 1, the next step involves receiving an email with the link to Part 2 of the form.

Please remember to check in your junk mail folder for the link if you did not receive it in your inbox.

Will I be able to apply more than once?

Section 1 of the form is to collect your personal details, and each applicant is allowed only one submission for this section. On the other hand, you have the flexibility to submit multiple applications for Section 2. Please be aware that only the most recent and comprehensive form will be looked-at during the review process.

What are the documents I need to prepare for the application?

Please prepare the following documents to upload onto the application form

  1. Applicant’s NRIC
  2. Surety’s NRIC
  3. Academic Certificates (SPM, STPM, A-Levels, Matriculation, Foundation, Diploma, IB)
  4. Achievement Certificates /Awards /Special Prizes
  5. University offer letter
  6. Tuition Fee letter
  7. Written referral from referee 1&2
  8. CV /Resume with photo attached
  9. Personal statement (800-1,000- word essay)
  10. Parents' latest tax form/payslip

What if my parents are retired and do not have a recent income tax form?

If they are retired and do not have a current form, they can submit the last form they submitted before retiring. If they are self-employed then a pay slip or bank statement will suffice. If you are from a single- parent family and there is no income, please upload an explanation on who is providing towards the household income and provide their income tax form /salary slip

Is it possible to leave the application half-way and continue applying later?

Yes, you can save your progress while applying and continue the application later.

How will my personal statement be evaluated?

The judges will use a rubric that will evaluate the essay based on:

  1. Content
    • The content should be strong and reflect your personality and values.
    • Your story telling should include the 5c’s (Communication, Creativity, Collaboration, sense of Community and Critical Thinking)
  2. Originality
    • Your essay should be original and about your life journey as to why you deserve this scholarship.
    • Please taken note that we will check for plagiarism or an AI tool has been used.
  3. Organisation
    • Please organise your essay in a way that is easy for the judges to understand
  4. Impact
    • The judges would like to know the impact that you made in school/university, in society or in your personal capacity (family and friends).
  5. Clarity
    • Please use simple, clear language to tell your story. Grammar is important, so please check your work before you submit the essay.

How do I make my Personal Statement stand out?

If you want your personal statement to stand-out and attract the interest of the judges, you may want to include the points below:

  1. Why did you choose the course you are studying, how does it matter to your goals and interests
  2. Change and personal growth. Reflect on a significant change or growth that you experienced.
  3. Passions and Interests.
  4. Overcoming challenges

When will I be notified that my application is successful

You will be notified approximately 4 weeks after the closing date (30 April) if you are successful to the next stage. If you are unsuccessful, you will be notified within the 4 weeks.
