Nothing in life was ever guaranteed. Growing up in a large family where financial stability was uncertain, I learned early that every opportunity had to be earned — not given.
Rather than letting my circumstances define me, I chose to rise above them. Balancing academic responsibilities with personal challenges built my resilience and pushed me to strive for excellence. Beyond the classroom, I stepped into leadership roles, including serving as the president of my college representative body, where I developed strong communication, organisational, and decision-making skills.
My decision to pursue accounting was shaped by both practicality and passion. I’ve always had a strong interest in numbers and problem-solving, but over time, I realised that accounting is more than just figures — it plays a key role in guiding decisions and creating impact within organisations. At a time when I needed support the most, I came across the YTL Foundation Scholarship through Telegram. While I had been applying to various scholarships, what stood out about YTL was its focus on holistic development. It wasn’t just about financial assistance, but about providing exposure, opportunities, and experiences that prepare us beyond university.

Receiving the scholarship became a turning point in my journey. Financially, it lifted a significant burden, allowing me to focus fully on my studies without constant worry. More importantly, it gave me confidence. I went from asking, “Can I afford this?” to believing, “How far can I go?” — a shift that continues to shape me today.
Through YTL, I gained valuable exposure beyond the classroom. My internship experience allowed me to see how accounting knowledge is applied in real business decisions, strengthening my understanding and deepening my interest in the field. These opportunities helped bridge the gap between theory and practice, giving me a clearer sense of direction.
Along the way, I’ve grown beyond academics. I’ve learned the importance of adaptability, teamwork, and communication, while developing stronger analytical thinking through hands-on experiences. More importantly, I’ve embraced a growth mindset — understanding that challenges are part of the journey, not something to avoid.

Outside my studies, I’m passionate about contributing to student development and community initiatives. Through projects and collaborations with SMEs, I’ve had the opportunity to apply my knowledge in meaningful ways. One experience that stood out was working on a case study where my team provided business insights to small enterprises, showing me the real impact of what we do.
At the core of my journey is my family. Their sacrifices continue to motivate me to push forward and build a better future. This sense of responsibility drives me to make the most of every opportunity given to me. Looking ahead, I aspire to build a strong career in accounting and finance, with plans to pursue professional qualifications such as ACCA. In the long term, I hope to contribute meaningfully through financial strategy, governance, and advisory roles, while giving back by mentoring others and supporting community initiatives.

For those considering the YTL Foundation Scholarship, my advice is simple, be genuine and believe in your story. This scholarship values resilience, purpose, and potential beyond results. If given the opportunity, make the most of it — it is more than just support, but a platform to grow and create meaningful impact.
