YTL Foundation builds a Frog Classroom for Special Needs Students in SJK (C) Sin Min, Simpang, Perak

YTL Foundation has turned one of the existing classrooms in SJK (C) Sin Min, Simpang, Perak into a Frog Classroom for its students with special needs.

SJK (C) Sin Min in Simpang, near Taiping, started operating a specialised class for students with special needs in 2012. The class, open to students aged 7 to 14 years old, currently supports the learning needs of students with autism with ADHD, ADHD, dyslexia, cerebral palsy, delayed development and other learning disabilities. The teaching and learning process is customised for each student according to their ability, to optimise their potential through the specialised application of teaching and learning techniques.

The Frog Classroom offers students a space with organised, well-designed areas that will set the stage for a positive learning environment. The classroom uses interactive modules like videos, presentations and visually attractive methods to make learning more accessible to students who tend to struggle with traditional methods of teaching. The classroom is fitted with a swing, a mini ball pit, a climbing gym area as well as a slide for students to use when they need a break during lessons.

Tan Tiong Yih, Senior Private Secretary to Deputy Dewan Rakyat Speaker YB Tuan Nga Kor Ming represented the Deputy Dewan Rakyat Speaker in officiating the launch of the classroom in the presence of YTL Foundation Programme Director, Datin Kathleen Chew Wai Lin and the school’s headmistress, Puan Tan Choy Ying.

SJK (C) Sin Min is the second school in Malaysia to have a Frog Classroom for students with special needs.
